Hello and welcome to my online voice.
I’m someone who will generally have an opinion on almost anything. So if I find something interesting, disturbing, inspiring or I am passionate about it, I’m likely to share my thoughts with anyone that can spare the time to listen. I certainly don’t profess to know much at all, but like I said I’m offering an opinion that I am happy to own. You can agree, disagree or be totally indifferent – but the bottom line is we’re all entitled to our own opinion.
Outside of my immediate family and friends I have two major passions: Rugby Union and Education – in particular primary education.
I’m a self-confessed rugby tragic! I played since I was a kid and retired too far over the wrong side of 30, but since hanging up the boots I’m still heavily involved and thoroughly enjoy coaching and supporting. I will always try and maintain an even hand when putting my opinion forward however, my one-eyed views may creep into play from time to time.
I’m a firm believer that education is the key to unlocking opportunity and the earlier a person starts learning the better. As a primary school teacher I’m a little biased but it’s never too late to start or keep learning. Helping children to learn and understand; watching them form their own opinions, make decisions, create things based on their own knowledge and become active citizens is incredibly rewarding .
While it’s never too late to start learning I’m an advocate that the earlier, the better irrespective of whether you’re a child, teen or adult.
From time to time I may traverse a range of social issues or special interest topics and invite friends to guest-post on subjects they’re passionate about or believe would benefit others. I will always try to avoid religion and politics as they tend to inflame, polarise and fracture perfectly good friendships – but ‘try’ is the operative word.
It should be clear the information expressed here is only an opinion – my opinion. If people I know post here then those posts are their opinions, which I may not necessarily agree with, but I respect their right to make their opinion known. Let’s be clear from the outset, the primary purpose of this blog and the content within it is to entertain, enlighten, inform and possibly even prompt sensible debate. I would prefer this DOES NOT become a platform for haters, racists or vitriolic trolls. I respect the freedom of speech, but not the right to intentionally offend. If you make a comment and I believe it crosses the line, it may not stay published for long on this blog.
Life is too short for it not to be enjoyed. Free yourself of all the unnecessary BS.
